Surgeon | Dr. Douglas Thom | Newport VA
Dr. Douglas Thom grew up in Wales in the United Kingdom. He trained at London University in England at St. George's Hospital. After training in England for 2 more years, he came to the United States where he completed the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. That's also where he met his wife, Kathy!

Dr. Thom has been practicing in the Hampton Roads / Newport News area since 1985. He joined the Center for Women's Health in October of 1995. Dr. Thom has served as Chief of Medical Staff at Mary Immaculate Hospital. Dr. Thom has a special interest in infertility and extensive training in current techniques of laparoscopic gynecologic surgery. He also is a beloved husband, and is a father to 4 kids, all of whom you'll probably hear him talk about in the office! 

Perhaps the most notable characteristic of Dr. Thom is his genuine care for his patients, as well as his dedication to always reading the latest technologies and techniques to use in his surgeries.
Gynecology | Dr. Cheri Coyle | Newport VA
Dr. Cheri Coyle completed her medical training and residency specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Hospital SUNY Stony Brook. She has been in private practice in southeast Virginia, specifically, the Yorktown-Hampton-Newport News areas since 1991.

Dr. Coyle specializes in high risk Obstetrics and Urogynecology and has extensive training in laser and laparoscopic surgery. She is Board certified through the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

A mother of four successful children, 3 daughters and a son, Dr. Coyle brings a high level of expertise as a physician and also as a mother to our practice. Dr. Coyle is very personable, and has a solid reputation throughout the area and has a very strong following. She loves seafood, travel, and an active lifestyle.
Physicians & Surgeons | Dr. O'Connell | Newport VA
Dr. O'Connell received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology from the University of New York at Albany before obtaining his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He is a beloved father to 3 kids: 1 daughter and 2 boys. 

He completed his internship in Family Practice followed by his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Riverside Regional Medical Center. He has been in private practice in Newport News, VA since 1989. 

Dr. O'Connell has had extensive training in laser and pelviscope surgery and is Board certified through the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Obstetrics | Dr.  Daynelle Dedmond | Newport VA
Dr. Kristi Taylor was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky (the “Horse Capital of the World”) and has lived in other cities in Kentucky, Florida, and California. She started her nursing career in 2004 at a community hospital in Kentucky as a labor and delivery/ postpartum RN for 5 years, followed by positions as a circulating nurse in the OR in California and Kentucky in outpatient surgery centers. Kristi also worked as an RN in an OB/GYN office in Kentucky, where she decided to move forward in pursuit of her dream to become an advanced nurse practitioner. She became a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner after graduating with a Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2016 from the University of Cincinnati.  

Kristi and her family moved to Newport News, Virginia in 2018 where she joined the Center for Women’s Health. She takes great pride in providing compassionate, non-judgmental care to women from all backgrounds and enjoys teaching and working as a team with each patient on their personal healthcare goals. Major interests include prenatal visits, breastfeeding assistance, and well-woman care including contraception and screenings throughout the lifetime. Kristi is married with three daughters, and enjoys the beach, reading, drawing, and world travel, having enjoyed Mexico, England, France, Germany, and Italy so far.    

Memberships include NPWH and ASCCP and she is certified in Advanced Fetal Monitoring through AWHONN.
Obstetrics | Dr.  Daynelle Dedmond | Newport VA
Dr. Daynelle Dedmond, MD is a Board-Certified Obstetrics and Gynecologic Physician who specializes in Gynecologic Oncology with over 10 years of experience. Dr. Dedmond earned a master’s degree in bio medical science from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va., where she also completed her doctoral degree. Dr. Dedmond completed residencies in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Ky., and the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.

Dr. Dedmond was born and raised in the Hampton Roads area. She holds strong ties to the community, public education and is actively engaged in Medical Leadership. As a mother of three children she is very empathetic and compassionate. She understands that these illnesses do not only affect the patients but their families as well. Dr. Dedmond believes care is not only individualized to the patient but encompasses the entire family in the treatment plan.

Nicole J Finley is a Board Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Nicole completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Nursing at Old Dominion University.  
 
Nicole has always dedicated her life to helping others. She particularly enjoys caring for young teenagers, educating them about their bodies especially at such a crucial time in their development, and teaching them ways to best care for themselves throughout their life span.
 
Nicole is very happily married to her Navy Sailor for the last 25 years. They have one 23-year-old son, also in the Navy and a 17-year-old daughter, who is a senior in high school.
 
Nicole is very excited to join the Center For Women’s Health. The doctors have such an amazing reputation in the community and “I know I want to become a part of such a cohesive and friendly practice.”
